Ok so I am reeeally resistant to apps that track my health and body. I have enough things in my life surveilling my every move and pulling me toward the blue light. HOWEVER, a recent PCOS diagnosis and rec from my wonderful gynecologist that I should see a dietitian has me a bit woolly-eyed as I embark on my journey to not feel like garbage two weeks out of every month. And this is where my rec comes in: Nourish. Ah! I know, I’m scared too. I ONLY am using this because it’s completely covered by insurance. I was so hesitant because of past trauma (one month of B€tterH3lp during peak Covid) and also I didn’t want to wander down a path of disordered eating. Also, there’s ai in it. (I’m embarrassed a bit now)
ANYWAYs I filled out the form and got connected to a dietitian in Texas of all places (??!) who is totally aligned with my concerns and goals. Love her ❤️ so the app itself is primarily to track your eating and movement (I don’t connect it to any movement). And I hate counting calories. However what I DO like is that it breaks down (using ai…) how much protein and fiber and other stuff is in the food I consume. My goal is to get a lot of protein, and it’s so easy to snap a photo of something and then the app can analyze it without you having to write in everything yourself. this is extremely helpful if you have adhd. My eating pattern is historically concerning so this is good for me.
I recommend this to anyone with specific nutrition and health goals whose insurance will cover it. I’m still wary but it has truly made a positive impact in my life in ways that I did not expect.
